Partners & Spade

I'm feeling very inspired by the playful work of Partners & Spade. Here's a little background from their site:
Partners & Spade, established in 2008 by Andy Spade (co-founder of both Kate Spade and Jack Spade) and Anthony Sperduti, is a storefront and studio on Great Jones Street in the NoHo neighborhood of lower Manhattan. The studio produces films, books, apparel and conceptual products as well as marketing and branding projects for select corporate clients. The storefront, open on weekends to the public, presents a constantly re-imagined group show of artwork, objects, collections and ideas generated by an ever changing cast of collaborators.
Begun as a means for its founders to pursue varied creative interests, Partners & Spade draws on Spade and Sperduti’s collective experience in advertising, filmmaking and fashion to create compelling brand strategies, products and one-of-a-kind artifacts, as well as a unique space for art happenings and special gatherings.
With clients like J.Crew, Kate Spade, K. Swiss, AOL, Hudson's bay Company, and Village Voice they work on projects ranging from advertising to store design to product design to event production.  It's people like this that make me want to move to New York.

DC here I come...

I'm off today to our nation's capital for a friend's wedding. Let me just say that I'm very happy to get a chance to be a guest at a wedding and not be the one worrying about all the little details.  Neither Alex nor I have ever been to DC before so we are turning this into a mini vacay. Do you have any must see spots? I'm open to any and all suggestions... shopping, eating, sightseeing, et. al.

Cross Stitchin

I don't know where my recent interest in cross stitched items has come from. Since I got married last month I have felt this weird nesting instinct and been all sorts of domestic but I don't know if the two are related.

This Edward Sharpe song was the lost song of the night at the wedding and it brought the house down... so this one by Chez Sucre Chez strikes a cord for me.

I think these guys by The Merriweather Council are are pretty happy and make me smile.

Oh 30 Rock how I've missed you. Jack always knows what to say... {via Craftzine.com}

Svenskt Tenn

Today's my birthday (happy birthday to me) and if I could close my eyes and wish for something.... it might be to pack my bags and head to Stockholm with lots of Krona in hand so I could spend them all at Svenskt Tenn.  I know America some great 'heritage' brands but the Swedes are a whole other level. These guys have been around since 1924. Please to enjoy:

The perfect balance of bright colors, bright white, natural wood, greenery, metal, great lines, luxe feel, and whimsy. LOVE!!

Minakani Walls

Minakani is a Paris-based design firm that makes large scale wall motifs.  These make me wish I didn't live in an apartment. Or maybe lived in Paris. Le sigh.

Home Makeover

I guess if your BFF is Martha Stewart and you're her editorial director then it goes with out saying that if you're going to renovate your home it's going to be fabulous. The party that you throw in honor of completing said renovation will be even more fabulous. Case in point... Kevin Sharkey's NYC apt housewarming. They call this a "playful black tie event."

Where am I going to store my vast collection of Hermes box? The shower of course!

Who doesn't love a festive game of ping pong at a party? It's a great excuse to use the monogrammed paddles!

... and to keep score on the mirror with Channel lipstick?

Sparkling tower of Oreo cookies you had me at hello.
