Swell Season

So the Wednesday night show was so good I had to go back Thursday night too. I'm speechless. The Swell Season is one of the few bands that actually sounds better live than in their albums. Glenn is so engaging and endearing and talented and raw and funny and true. I was unprepared to document either evening but thankfully many of my fellow concertgoers weren't. Here's a preview of what you missed.

Say it to me now - My favorite. Plus one of the most touching stories that made it all the more poignant. When I saw them last year at at the Greek (an outdoor amphitheater), he did this totally unplugged which was mind blowing.

Low Rising off of their new album Strict Joy

A great cover of Van Morrison's Astral Weeks. I saw Van last year at the Hollywood Bowl and I like Glenn's version better.

One of their new untitled songs.

Leave... sorry for the poor quality of this one.

When Your Mind's Made Up

Feeling the Pull with a little of Willie Nelson's Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain

On a random, funny side note... Jason Segal made a guest appearance at both shows and lightened the mood a bit.

An interview with the LA Times about their experiences since Once.

  1. I am ready to commit to becoming a groupie. We can just follow them everywhere they go. I think the show in Dublin is probably the must see.
