We spent Sunday night under the starts listening to great music at The Hollywood Bowl. KCRW hosted a concert of male/female composing teams the was headlined by my fave The Swell Season (the other 2 acts were The Bird & The Bee and She & Him). Because it's the Bowl and you can BYOB and picnic and because we're essentially Swell Season groupies we got a box with 2 good friends for the evening.
We had a lovely picnic of Kale Salad, Salmon, Fruit Salad... all fresh from the farmer's market that morning. How LA! Do you like my impromptu Ikea dishtowel table cloths?
As always I am thankful for people like razorstarzz for having better seats than me, a better camera than me, the will to sit and record an entire concert, and the desire to post it on YouTube within the next 24 hours. Thank you who ever you are. Please to enjoy snippets of the evening.
The encore performance - a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Drive All Night" that ended with a traditional Irish song. Brilliant. And I don't even like The Boss (sorry Alex).
"Leave" - a song that always sounds so much better in person than on the album.
"Say It To Me Now" - I never get tired of this song. I tear up every time. Every time.
She & Him (M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel if you didn't know) doing "I Put A Spell On You." Sista can sing it!
