Back from NYC

I'm back from my hot, sticky week in NYC (temps were over 100 and humid). Half of the trip was spent meeting store buyers at the JA Show (that's me at my booth above). The other half of the trip was spent running around town for editor desk sides. Below are the super sneaky shots that I snapped in their lobbies... Lucky, Glamour, Teen Vogue, Vogue (I didn't actually have an appointment with Vogue. I just got off on the 12th floor in hopes of bumping into Anna),  Real Simple, People Style Watch.

As it happens, I saw this girl on Thursday walking out of the Conde Nast building (she was the first of my many crop top sightings. Apparently they are making a come back). I guess Garance saw her too.

It was a great trip but it feels good to be home.

AGJ Wedding bands

I was beyond honored when my good friend (and Real Simple Fashion Editor) Julee asked me to make the wedding bands for her and her soon-to-be husband. It is an amazing perk of my job to make something tangible that represents a momentous occasion, a token of affection, or a symbol of lifelong commitment. The best part is that I'm flying to NYC bright and early tomorrow morning (to do some editor desk sides and a wholesale trade show) and I get to give these two babies to them in person!!
Click over here to read more about Julee's rings (and her wedding).
On that note, I'll try to check in while I'm in NY but I'll be gone for the next week or so. I'll be back soon... hopefully with a big stack of new wholesale accounts!

Outta town

I'm off to SF today for a bachelorette party (and to avoid the LA Carmageddon). I wanted to share some pictures that my very talented friend Denise Crew took of me at my studio for my new website (a new website needs a head shot right? One that my dad didn't take in the backyard 3 years ago?). Denise is the best and she's also got a new blog that I love.
See you next week (but only for a hot second because I'm flying to NYC for a tradeshow and editor desk sides).

Happy antlers

How awesome are these color blocked antlers by MadeByCassandra!? They are all naturally shed from deer and then hand painted with acrylic. I love the creative use of color and pattern to change something that is normally considered rustic into something modern and happy.

AGJ website relaunch

Head over here to check out the new and improved Ariel Gordon Jewelry website.
One of the goals of the redesign was to extend my branding and let my customers feel like they know me personally. Because online shopping can be an anonymous process, I want people to feel like they know me and my aesthetic when they are on my site. I want them to want to support my business because they like my taste and my company as an extension of my personality. I tried to make all the graphic elements on my site to help with this - headers, buttons, fonts, lay out, my look book, slide show on homepage, etc.
Hope you like it!!

Soul Train

The Soul Train is rolling into the Smithsonian. The museum just announced plans to add memorabilia from the show’s 37-year-long run to its collection. I think this is a great idea. A few months ago while channel surfing I stumbled across a few classic episodes and became transfixed. Between the music, the dancing, the clothes, and the afros there is so much to love. Here a a few clips to enjoy.
